What if we have taken wow of doing few varshi tap and can not fulfill it
In Jain Dharma, a vow (vrat / pratijñā) should be taken with full understanding and capacity.
If someone has taken a vow of Varshi Tap but later feels unable to complete it, then:
- Do not remain careless about it.
Reflect with sincerity and humility.
- Do pratikraman and repentance (prāyaścitta-bhāv).
Ask forgiveness for the inability to complete the vow and for any mistake done knowingly or unknowingly.
- Consult a Jain Sadhu, Sadhvi, Acharya, or a knowledgeable dharmic guide.
In Jain tradition, guidance is important before changing or ending a vow.
- If the vow was taken with an impossible burden, accept the mistake and correct your intention.
Jain Dharma values truthfulness and restraint, so vows should not be made beyond one’s strength.
- Do not take such vows casually in the future.
Only take a vrat that can be followed with steadiness, humility, and right awareness.
The main Jain spirit is:
- bhāva shuddhi — purity of intention,
- samyak bhakti — sincere devotion,
- ahimsa toward self also, meaning no mental violence through guilt or pride,
- and truthfulness in keeping one’s word as much as possible.
So, if you cannot fulfill it, the right Jain way is repent sincerely, seek proper guidance, and avoid repeating the same mistake.
