My question is our religion follow ahimsa do not hurt anyone do not think wrong about anyone but what to do when someone torture us, do murder, do rape then what should we do should we be silent ?
In Jain dharma, ahimsa does not mean becoming helpless or accepting injustice silently.
If someone tortures, murders, or rapes, the right Jain approach is:
- Protect life and safety first
- Move away from danger if possible
- Seek help immediately
- Inform authorities and responsible people
- Protect others from harm
- Do not keep hatred, revenge, or cruelty in the mind
For a householder (grihastha), Jainism accepts that in extreme danger, minimum necessary force or action to stop harm may be unavoidable, but it should be:
- only as much as needed,
- without anger,
- without revenge,
- without wishing to hurt the other person more than necessary.
For a sanyasi / monk, the ideal is complete nonviolence and non-retaliation, but even then, preserving life and avoiding harm is important.
So the Jain answer is:
Do not be silent in the face of wrongdoing. Protect yourself and others, but do it with restraint, compassion, and without hatred.
In Jain spirit, one should remember:
- Ahimsa
- Kshama (forgiveness)
- Dhairya (courage)
- Vivek (right discrimination)
If you want, I can also explain how Jainism teaches self-defense for a householder vs. a monk in simple words.
