If someone is back from diksha. Due to certain misunderstandings with the monks and ill treatment and is yet thinking of pursuing that path again. Should he attend events in the sangh? Public events where everyone will see him thou everyone knows he is ba
In Jain Dharma, the main guidance is to act with vivek, vinay, and ahimsa—in thought, speech, and conduct.
If someone has returned from diksha and is still disturbed, hurt, or confused, then attending sangh events is not automatically wrong. But it should be done only if the person can remain:
- calm and respectful
- free from anger or bitterness
- without creating discomfort, gossip, or division
- with a sincere intention toward self-purification
If public events may cause:
- emotional disturbance,
- awkwardness,
- misunderstandings,
- or unnecessary discussion among others,
then it may be wiser to wait for some time, or attend quietly and briefly, rather than being seen in a way that creates more confusion.
From a Jain view, the key point is not “what will people think,” but: Will this help protect samyag bhav, inner peace, and right conduct?
So the practical answer is:
- Yes, he may attend if he can do so with equanimity and dignity.
- No, he should avoid if he feels unstable, hurt, or likely to react emotionally.
- If he still wishes to return to the path again, he should focus first on self-restraint, forgiveness, and steady contemplation before taking public steps.
In Jain spirit, the best approach is: inner stability first, public presence second.
If the person is considering re-entering the path, then it is better to proceed with humility, patience, and proper guidance, rather than under the pressure of public visibility.
