Which texts are accepted by all jain sects and subsects?
In Jain Dharma, no large scripture collection is accepted in exactly the same way by every sect and subsect.
The one text most widely accepted across all major Jain traditions is:
- Tattvartha Sutra by Acharya Umasvami / Umasvati
It is respected by both:
- Digambar
- Shwetambar
and is generally treated as an authoritative summary of Jain philosophy.
Important clarification
- Shwetambar traditions especially accept the Agamas as scriptures.
- Digambar traditions do not accept the same Agama canon in the same form.
- So, the Agamas are not universally accepted by all Jain sects.
Short answer
If you mean one text accepted by all Jain sects and subsects, the safest answer is:Tattvartha Sutra
If you want, I can also list:
- the texts accepted by Digambar only,
- the texts accepted by Shwetambar only, and
- the common philosophical texts revered across Jain traditions.
