Is donating to charity vaiyavachch
In Jain Dharma, charity is generally called _daan_, not _vaiyavachch_.
Vaiyavachch means respectful service, care, and assistance, especially toward:
- साधु-साध्वी
- elders and deserving spiritual persons
- fellow Jains in need, when done with humility and devotion
So:
- If you give money, food, or help to those in need → it is mainly daan.
- If you personally serve someone with devotion, care, and humility → it can be considered vaiyavachch.
In short: charity is not exactly vaiyavachch, but service done with the right भावना can be vaiyavachch.
