AM I ALLOWED TO KEEP MY GENETILS AS A JAIN OR SHOULD I CUT IT OFF TO SHOW MY DEDICATION TO MY DHARMA
In Jain Dharma, you should not cut off your genitals to show devotion.
That would be violence against your own body, and Jainism does not teach self-mutilation as a religious practice. True dedication in Jain Dharma is shown through:
- Ahimsa — non-violence
- Brahmacharya — self-control and purity
- Aparigraha — non-attachment
- Tapas — discipline, fasting, and restraint done properly
If you are feeling pressure, guilt, or confusion about your body or identity, please do not harm yourself. Speak to a trusted Jain monk, nun, family elder, or a mental health professional right away.
If you might act on this urge soon, seek immediate emergency help now or go to the nearest hospital / call local emergency services.
Your body is not something to mutilate for Dharma. In Jainism, discipline is practiced through control of passions, not injury to the body.
