Adinath, also known as Lord Rishabhanatha, did not “discover” Jainism in the ordinary sense. In Jain tradition, he is regarded as the first Tirthankar of the current time cycle, meaning he was the first enlightened teacher who revived and revealed the path of Jain Dharma for beings in this era.

He attained kevalgnana and then taught the path of:

• Ahimsa
• Satya
• Asteya
• Brahmacharya
• Aparigraha

So, more correctly, we say:

Adinath did not discover Jainism; he was the first Tirthankar who re-established and preached Jain Dharma in this age.
