In Jain cosmology, moksha is possible in the 3rd and 4th ara of a time cycle.
- 3rd ara: moksha is possible
- 4th ara: moksha is possible
- 5th ara: moksha is not possible
- 1st and 2nd ara: moksha is generally not taught as the era for liberation
- 6th ara: moksha is not possible
In the current avasarpiṇī kala, we are in the 5th ara, so according to Jain tradition, moksha is not attainable in this age.
