Give me Griha Pravesh process as per jainism

    4 months ago 133

In Jainism, Griha Pravesh is done in a simple, pure, and non-violent way. The main focus is auspiciousness, cleanliness, devotion, and right intention, not elaborate ritual.

    Jain Griha Pravesh process

    1) Purification of the house

    • Clean the house properly before entry.
    • Keep the home peaceful, tidy, and free from unnecessary violence or harm.
    • Avoid any ritual that involves killing, fire-offerings with violence, or harmful practices.

    2) Enter with auspicious thoughts

    • Enter the house with samyak bhava — pure, calm, and devotional mind.
    • The first thought should be of Ahimsa, Satya, Aparigraha, and family harmony.

    3) Jain prayer or मंगलाचरण

    • Recite a Jain prayer such as:
    - Namokar Mantra - Logassa - Khamasamana / Iryavahi Vandana - Any short Jain stuti or stavan
    • This is done to invite purity and spiritual upliftment into the home.

    4) Worship of Jain Bhagwan

    • If possible, place a clean and sacred space for Jin idol or Jin image.
    • Do puja with water, sandal, rice, flowers, and incense only if it is done in a non-violent and traditional Jain manner.
    • If your tradition prefers, keep it very simple with darshan and namaskar.

    5) First step inside

    • The eldest or the most senior respected person may enter first.
    • Many families enter carrying:
    - a Kalash with clean water - rice - coconut - book of prayers / Jain granth
    • These are symbolic and should be kept simple.

    6) Light meal as per Jain way

    • After entering, offer or share sattvic Jain food prepared without root vegetables, according to your observance.
    • It is best to begin the home life with sajja, fruits, or simple wholesome food.

    7) Charity and goodwill

    • Giving daan or helping someone on this day is considered very auspicious in Jainism.
    • A small act of compassion, like offering food or support to the needy, is spiritually meaningful.

    8) Avoiding inauspicious acts

    • Do not involve alcohol, meat, eggs, or any non-Jain practice.
    • Avoid loud, harmful, or excessive celebration.
    • Keep the atmosphere peaceful and devotional.

    Jain essence of Griha Pravesh

In Jain dharma, the real sanctity of a home comes from:
    • Ahimsa
    • Truth
    • Self-restraint
    • Contentment
    • Devotion to Jinashasan
    • Clean conduct and peaceful living

So the best Jain Griha Pravesh is one where the house is entered with Namokar Mantra, purity, and right conduct.

If you want, I can also give you a simple Jain Griha Pravesh puja vidhi in step-by-step format.
