basically attachment is just a egoistic clinging and affection is a true deep love to some one no or yes
In Jainism, not exactly “no or yes” — the distinction is more subtle.
- Māyā / moha / rāga: attachment means clinging, possessiveness, dependence, and ego-based pulling toward someone or something. This is bondage-producing.
- Vātsalya / karuṇā / maitrī: affection can be pure, compassionate, and wish for the other’s spiritual and worldly well-being. This is closer to Jain feeling of love.
So, in Jain view:
- Attachment = “I need you for my happiness.”
- Pure affection = “May you be happy and spiritually uplifted, without possessiveness.”
But one must be careful: in ordinary life, what people call “affection” often still contains some attachment. In the pure Jain sense, true affection is compassion without clinging.
So your statement is partly yes:
- attachment is egoistic clinging — yes.
- affection is true deep love — only if it is free from possessiveness and ego.
In Jain dharma, the ideal is love with non-attachment.
