• Attachment (rāga/moha) = clinging, possessiveness, dependence, and deluded attraction.
• Affection can be pure goodwill or compassion only if it is free from attachment.

So attachment is not simply “egoistic love”, but it is a bondage-producing deluded clinging. And affection is not always genuine love unless it is without possessiveness and ego.
