5 kalyanaks meaning
In Jain Dharma, the 5 Kalyanaks are the five auspicious events in the life of a Tirthankar:
- Chyavan Kalyanak – the soul descends into the mother’s womb
- Janma Kalyanak – the Tirthankar’s birth
- Diksha Kalyanak – renunciation of worldly life and taking monkhood
- Keval Gyan Kalyanak – attainment of omniscience
- Moksha Kalyanak – final liberation, when the soul becomes free from all karmas
These are considered extremely sacred and celebrated in Jain tradition.
