In Jain Dharma, the lanchan of a Tirthankar Bhagwan is the distinct emblem or symbol by which that Tirthankar is recognized.

It symbolises identification, so devotees can know which Tirthankar is being depicted in an idol, image, or temple carving. Each of the 24 Tirthankars has a different lanchan.

In a spiritual sense, the lanchan also reminds us of the unique divine kevalgnan and purity of that Tirthankar, while helping preserve proper recognition in worship and tradition.
