In Jain Dharma, when we say “natural state” of the soul, we mean its own original nature:

• pure consciousness
• knowledge
• perception
• bliss
• energy

This is the soul without karmic bondage. So Siddha-avastha is called the natural or true state because there is no anger, ego, deceit, greed, body-karma, or suffering there. Those are all temporary coverings caused by karma.

Is the number of Siddha jīvas more than sansārī jīvas?

No. In Jain understanding, sansārī jīvas are far more numerous than Siddha jīvas.

• Sansārī jīvas are the souls still wandering in birth and death.
• Siddha jīvas are the souls that have become completely free from karma.

So, while the number of Siddhas is also vast, the bound souls in saṃsār are much greater.

In simple words: the soul’s natural state is liberation, but most souls are still covered by karma, so Siddha jīvas are far fewer than sansārī jīvas.
