If I had a dream that I accidentally killed some one is it a paap or a mahapaap
In Jain Dharma, a dream by itself is not considered a paap or mahapaap like a real intentional act.
Why:
- Dreams happen without full conscious intent
- Karma in Jainism is mainly bound by bhav — the inner feeling, intention, and passions
- If you did not actually want harm and it was only a dream, then it is not the same as real himsa
So in simple words:
- Accidental killing in a dream = not mahapaap
- It is not the same as knowingly causing violence in waking life
If the dream disturbed you, Jain practice would be to:
- remain calm
- do pratikraman in your heart
- ask forgiveness for any harmful thoughts
- strengthen ahimsa and purity of mind
So the right view is: do not fear that the dream itself made you a great sinner. In Jainism, intent and awareness matter greatly.
