Parigrah in Jain Dharma means possessions, attachment, and ownership.

It is not only external things like:

• money
• property
• clothes
• gold
• land

but also inner attachment to these things. In Jain philosophy, parigrah is considered a cause of bondage of the soul, because it increases moh (attachment) and reduces aparigraha (non-possession).

In simple words:

• Having things is one part.
• Being attached to things is parigrah.

Jain view:

A true Jain strives for aparigrah — minimal possession and minimal attachment — to move toward purity of soul and liberation.
