If a person committed a sin even a big sin or a small one is sincere accpentence and confession nought
In Jain Dharma, sincere repentance, confession, and resolve not to repeat the sin are very important.
Even if a person has committed a small sin or a big sin, true pratikraman, alochana (confession), prayaschitta (atonement), and man-vachan-kaya se shuddhi can reduce the bondage of karma when they are done with genuine remorse and inner change.
But in Jainism, repentance should not be only words. It should include:
- Deep regret for the wrong action
- Open confession before Guru or within sincere self-review
- A firm vow not to repeat it
- Effort to correct conduct going forward
So, yes, sincere repentance and confession are meaningful and spiritually important, but they must be true, humble, and followed by self-discipline. Only then do they become effective in purifying karma.
In short: Repentance is powerful, but it must be sincere and accompanied by change.
