Samayik is a sacred Jain practice of equanimity, self-discipline, and आत्म-शुद्धि. In Samayik, one stays calm, free from attachment and aversion, and remains devoted to the soul.
Simple Samayik method
- Sit in a clean and शांत place.
- Keep the body still and the mind calm.
- Take the vow:
“I will remain in equanimity and avoid हिंसा, असत्य, चोरी, ब्रह्मचर्य-भंग, and परिग्रह during this period.”
- Recite:
णमो अरिहंताणं णमो सिद्धाणं णमो आयरियाणं णमो उवज्झायाणं णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं
- Do meditation, self-reflection, and study of Jain principles.
- End Samayik with pratikraman or repentance for any mistake done in thought, word, or deed.
