Awareness or affirmations to not let jealousy comparisons insecurity control your materialist body
In Jain Dharma, jealousy, comparison, and insecurity are forms of kashaya such as lobha, mana, and raga-dwesha that disturb the atma and bind karma. The remedy is samyak smriti: remembering that I am not this body; I am a pure soul.
Use these inner affirmations:
- I am the soul, not the body.
- My worth is not based on comparison.
- What others have is their karmic result; my duty is self-purification.
- I choose equanimity over jealousy.
- I release pride, envy, and insecurity.
- I am content with what I have.
- My focus is on right conduct, not material competition.
- No outer possession can define my inner purity.
- I will not let kashayas control my mind.
- I remain a witness, calm and detached.
A simple Jain awareness practice:
- Pause
- Observe the feeling
- Say silently: “This is a passing mental state, not my true self.”
- Remember: “I am an eternal soul; I choose non-attachment.”
- Redirect the mind to swadhyaya, pratikraman, and samta.
A short Jain-style daily reflection:
“May I be free from jealousy. May I see all souls as equal. May I remain content, detached, and शांत in my own dharma.”
