If I marry a man who is not jain is it a sin
In Jain dharma, marrying a non-Jain is not automatically called a sin.
What matters most is:
- whether you remain faithful to Ahimsa, Satya, Aparigraha, and other Jain values
- whether the marriage supports or weakens your spiritual practice
- whether it causes pressure to break your vows, rituals, or ethics
Traditionally, many Jain families prefer marriage within the Jain community because it helps preserve dharma, discipline, and way of life. But the real Jain focus is on karma and conduct, not only community label.
So, from a Jain view:
- If the marriage leads to loss of dharma or attachment that increases bondage, it is considered harmful
- If both partners respect Jain values, it is not automatically a sin
If you are uncertain, the safest Jain path is to choose what best protects your samyak darshan, conduct, and inner peace.
