Can jain wear condoms
In Jain Dharma, householders may use condoms for family planning and to avoid the harm of unwanted conception, especially if it supports ahimsa and responsible restraint.
Key point:
- For sadhus/sadhvis (ascetics): not applicable, because they observe पूर्ण brahmacharya.
- For grihasthas (householders): it is generally seen as more acceptable than actions that lead to greater हिंसा, such as abortion.
Still, Jain teaching gives the highest value to:
- brahmacharya,
- self-control,
- responsibility in family life.
So, from a Jain perspective, yes, a Jain householder can wear/use condoms, especially for ethical and non-violent family planning.
