If it is pre destined situations then does it also mean that people become rich wealthy or even poor jn later life because of their past karma or because it was pre destined
In Jain Dharma, wealth, poverty, सुख, दुःख, honor, and many life situations are understood mainly as the fruit of one’s own karma.
So in simple terms:
- It is not blind destiny alone.
- It is karma that has ripened into result.
- What people call “pre-destined” is often the maturing of past karma.
Jain view
A person may become:- rich,
- poor,
- famous,
- powerless,
- healthy,
- sick,
because of past karmas that were bound earlier and are now giving their result.
But present effort also matters
Jainism does not teach helpless fatalism. Your current conduct, effort, austerity, right faith, and right actions can:- stop new bad karma,
- reduce bondage,
- improve future results,
- and lead the soul toward liberation.
So the correct understanding is:
Past karma creates the present situation, and present पुरुषार्थ creates the future. That is why Jain Dharma teaches:
- not to blame fate alone,
- not to feel proud of wealth alone,
- not to lose hope in poverty,
- but to continue with right effort, equanimity, and dharma.
In short: Rich or poor later in life is generally due to past karma, but it is not fixed forever—your present karma and effort also matter.
