Why does the jain sutras symbol carry the swastika
In Jain Dharma, the swastika is used as a highly auspicious symbol because it represents important spiritual teachings:
- The four gatis (states of existence):
- It reminds Jains of the cycle of birth and rebirth in samsara.
- In Jain tradition, the symbol also points to the fourfold path of spiritual progress and the importance of turning the soul toward liberation through Right Faith, Right Knowledge, and Right Conduct.
- The swastika is considered a sign of auspiciousness, well-being, and spiritual purity.
In Jain symbols, it is not used for political or modern meanings, but as a religious sign of auspiciousness and the soul’s journey.
