Strictest Jain answer: Yes — if there is even a trace of attachment (mamatva / raga), it is karmically binding.

In Jain Dharma, love mixed with clinging, “she is mine,” or emotional dependence is attachment, and attachment binds karma. So wearing your mother’s necklace or keeping her photo out of deep sentimental love is not fully spiritually pure.

If it is only respectful remembrance, gratitude, and no possessiveness at all, the fault is less. But strictly speaking, for a female layperson too, the purest Jain view says to remain detached.
