How life first appeared
In Jain Dharma, life did not first appear at any single starting point.
Jain view:
- The universe is eternal and has no creator.
- Jīva (living soul) is also beginningless and endless.
- Souls exist in many forms according to karma.
- Life is not created out of nothing; it takes birth again and again in different bodies due to karmic bondage.
So, according to Jain philosophy:
- there is no first life,
- no first creation of the universe,
- and no supreme creator who made life.
Life is understood as the eternal existence of jīva within the dravyas of the universe, governed by karma.
