Yes please explain how there text become different ?

    3 months ago 45

In Jain Dharma, the text can become different mainly because of these reasons:

    1. Different traditions

    - Digambar and Shwetambar traditions preserved some texts differently. - Some scriptures accepted in one tradition may not be accepted in the other.

    1. Oral transmission

    - Many Jain teachings were preserved by listening, memorizing, and reciting. - Over time, small changes in words, order, or pronunciation can happen.

    1. Language changes

    - Original teachings were in Prakrit, Ardhamagadhi, Sanskrit, or related forms. - When later explained in other languages, the wording may change slightly.

    1. Copying by hand

    - Ancient manuscripts were copied manually. - A few words may be added, removed, or written differently by scribes.

    1. Meaning preserved, wording different

    - In Jain Dharma, sometimes the spiritual meaning stays the same, but the exact text form differs.

    Example

A prayer or sutra may have:
    • a different opening line
    • a different word order
    • a slightly different ending
    • or a different recitation style

But the core intention remains the same: devotion, right understanding, and spiritual purity.

    In short

    Texts differ because of:
    • tradition,
    • transmission,
    • language,
    • and manuscript history.

Yet Jain Dharma keeps the focus on the essence: Ahimsa, Satya, Asteya, Brahmacharya, Aparigraha, and liberation of the soul.

If you want, I can also explain the difference between Digambar and Shwetambar text traditions in a very simple way.
