What are 4 forms of life in Jainism
In Jainism, the 4 forms of life are called four gatis:
- Narak gati – hellish beings
- Tiryanch gati – animals, birds, insects, and other one-celled or multi-celled beings
- Manushya gati – human beings
- Deva gati – celestial beings
These are the four main states in which a soul can take birth according to its karma. In Jain philosophy, human birth is especially important because it gives the best opportunity for spiritual progress and liberation.
