What are dhol and chamer made of
In Jain context:
- Dhol is usually made of wood with leather or animal-hide drumheads, tied with cords.
- Chamer / Chamar is traditionally made from yak-tail hair or sometimes soft fibers, fixed to a wooden or metal handle.
In Jain tradition, care is taken to avoid unnecessary हिंसा, so the chamer used in worship is preferably made in a non-violent and respectful way.
