“Jain” means a follower of Jina.

• Jina = one who has conquered inner enemies like anger, pride, deceit, greed, and the bonds of karma.
• So, a Jain is a person who follows the path taught by the Jinas, especially the Tirthankars.

In simple words: Jain = one who follows the religion of conquest over the self and karma.
