• Even if an egg is described as “not yet alive” in some scientific sense, Jainism still treats it as unfit for a non-violent way of life, because it comes from animal exploitation and is associated with destruction of life-potential.
• Jain ethics focus on ahimsa, purity, and restraint, so the practical rule is to avoid eggs altogether.

In simple words

Jainism does not say, “An egg is safe if no life is visible.” It says, if a food item is tied to injury, exploitation, or the possibility of life, it should be avoided.

So for a Jain, eggs are generally not acceptable.
