    How to remove negative thoughts

    3 months ago 46

In Jain Dharma, negative thoughts are reduced by right awareness, self-restraint, and inner purification. You do not forcefully “remove” thoughts; you weaken their causes.

    Practical Jain ways:

    1. Practice self-observation

    - Watch the mind without becoming the thought. - Recognize: “This thought is temporary; I am the soul.”

    1. Do Pratikraman

    - Daily repentance and review help clean the mind of anger, pride, deceit, greed, hatred, and attachment.

    1. Recite or remember Navkar Mantra

    - It calms the mind and turns attention toward purity.

    1. Avoid anger and harsh speech

    - Negative thoughts grow from krodh, maan, maya, and lobh.

    1. Cultivate forgiveness

    - Forgive others and yourself. Forgiveness reduces mental burden.

    1. Keep the mind engaged in wholesome activity

    - Study Jain scriptures, do seva, meditation, and reflection on the soul.

    1. Practice vairagya

    - Reduce attachment to outcomes, praise, and possessions.

    1. Maintain good company

    - Stay with people and environments that support ahimsa, discipline, and peace.

    Simple inner affirmation:

    • “I am the pure soul, not these passing thoughts.”
    • “Let me not harm any being in mind, speech, or body.”

    Jain view:

Negative thoughts are also a form of subtle violence when they create harmful intention. By practicing samyak darshan, samyak jnana, and samyak charitra, the mind becomes lighter and clearer.

If you want, I can also give a short Jain daily routine for mental peace.
