In Jain Dharma, derasar is a place for vandan, bhakti, and आत्म-शुद्धि. We do prayer and respect before Tirthankar Bhagwan, but we do not ask for worldly favors in the same way as from a giver of boons.

• Tirthankar Bhagwan is vitarag — completely free from attachment and aversion.
• So Bhagwan does not give rewards out of favor or displeasure.

So, yes, you can pray for spiritual upliftment, but not with the idea of getting worldly desires granted by divine intervention.
