In Jain Dharma, help should be given with compassion, not with conditions or harshness.

If a beggar is in need, the proper Jain भावना is to help according to your capacity, while maintaining daya, anukampa, and ahimsa. Telling them, “First follow Jain lifestyle, then I will help,” can become uncompassionate if they are in urgent need.

A better Jain approach is:

• Give help with kindness
• Do not insult, judge, or force
• If possible, inspire them gently toward non-violence, simplicity, and right conduct
• Share Jain values respectfully, without making help conditional

Jain Dharma teaches self-purification first, but also compassion toward all जीव. So:

• Help first when there is genuine need
• Guide later through soft and respectful words

If you want to encourage Jain living, do it in a loving and non-forceful way, not as a condition for basic help.
