Upwaas saves how many years of hell

In Jain Dharma, Upwaas does not have one fixed “number of years of hell” that it saves.

Its real effect is:

• it reduces karmic bondage,
• purifies the soul,
• and helps weaken or destroy sinful karma when done with right faith, right intent, and self-restraint.

So the result is not counted as a simple fixed number of years. Whether a soul goes to hell, for how long, or avoids hellish gati depends on the nature and intensity of karma, along with bhav, conduct, and inner purity.

In short: Upwaas is for karma-nirjara and आत्मशुद्धि, not for a fixed “years saved” calculation.
