Question is how? Since some need to witness that, right? So what are all the signs? That a soul attain liberation..

In Jainism, when a soul attains liberation (moksha), it is freed from all karmic bonds and the cycle of birth and death (samsara). The process of liberation is deeply spiritual and, according to Jain philosophy, cannot be directly witnessed by ordinary beings with worldly perception. However, Jain scriptures describe some signs and doctrinal explanations related to the attainment of moksha.

    1. Keval Jnan (Omniscience): Before liberation, the soul attains Keval Jnan, the state of infinite knowledge. A Kevali (omniscient being) is recognized by certain signs, such as the absence of passions, supreme equanimity, and radiant aura. However, only those with advanced spiritual vision (like other Kevalis or certain celestial beings) can truly recognize a Kevali.

    2. Final Liberation (Nirvana): Liberation occurs at the end of the last life after the destruction of all karmas. The liberated soul rises to the top of the universe (Siddhashila), never to return to the cycle of birth and death.

Signs at the Time of Liberation (as described in Jain texts):

    • Samadhi-maran (Peaceful Death): The soul leaves the body in a state of perfect equanimity and awareness, often through sallekhana (voluntary peaceful death with spiritual preparation).
    • Celestial Celebrations: It is believed that when a soul attains liberation, celestial beings (devas) celebrate and mark the event. This is described in Jain scriptures but is not witnessed by ordinary humans.
    • No Return: The liberated soul (Siddha) does not take rebirth. This is a philosophical and scriptural assertion, not an observable event.

    Common Misconceptions:

    • There are no physical signs observable by ordinary human senses that can conclusively prove the liberation of a soul.
    • Faith in the teachings of the Tirthankaras and scriptural evidence is considered the basis for knowing about liberation.

In Summary: Liberation is a spiritual event, not a physical phenomenon. The signs are described in Jain scriptures and are primarily accessible to beings with extraordinary spiritual abilities. For lay followers, faith in the scriptures and the conduct of the enlightened being are the means to understand and accept that a soul has attained liberation.
