Design requirements for jain gruh jinalay. Basic loints to keep in mind

    3 months ago 47

Here are the basic points to keep in mind for a Jain Gruh Jinalay:

    1. Purity and sanctity

    - The Jinalay should be kept very clean, शांत, and sacred. - It should be a place only for bhakti, darshan, stavan, and dhyan.

    1. Direction and placement

    - Traditionally, the main idol is placed facing east or north. - The place should be in a calm part of the house, away from disturbance.

    1. Separate and respectful space

    - Gruh Jinalay should ideally be in a separate, quiet, and undisturbed room or corner. - It should not be used for storage, casual sitting, or non-religious activities.

    1. Height and seat of Bhagwan

    - The idol should be placed on a clean, respectful pedestal or sinhasan. - It should not be kept directly on the floor.

    1. Clean materials

    - Use simple, pure, and clean materials like wood, marble, or stone as per tradition. - Avoid decorative or flashy items that reduce the sacredness.

    1. Minimal and serene decoration

    - Decoration should be simple, tasteful, and non-ostentatious. - The focus must remain on veneration, not display.

    1. Lighting

    - Keep soft, proper lighting so the idol and space remain serene and visible. - Avoid very harsh or distracting lights.

    1. Ablution and worship space

    - If you perform puja, keep a separate clean area for puja items. - Maintain proper arrangement for jal, pujan samagri, and clean cloths.

    1. No improper use

    - Do not keep food, valuables, or unnecessary household items in the Jinalay. - It should remain a dedicated spiritual space.

    1. Respectful conduct

    - Enter the Jinalay with calm mind, clean body, and respectful behavior. - Maintain silence or soft devotion inside.

    1. Tradition-based differences

    - Some details may vary slightly according to Digambar and Shwetambar traditions. - It is best to follow the guidance of your Guru, Acharya, or local tradition.

    1. Small but sacred is enough

    - A Gruh Jinalay does not need to be large or elaborate. - Even a small, well-maintained, pure space is highly meritorious.

If you want, I can also give you a simple layout checklist for Gruh Jinalay in point form.
