Stories 0f 20 viharman tirthankars
In Jain Dharma, Viharman Tirthankars are the living Tirthankars currently residing in Mahāvideh Kshetra. At any given time, there are said to be 20 Viharman Tirthankars there, and they continue to give deshna to those who are eligible and spiritually advanced.
Important point: Their stories are not commonly told as 20 separate life-histories like the 24 Tirthankars of our Avasarpini. Instead, Jain scriptures and tradition explain them mainly as presently existing Tirthankars in Mahāvideh Kshetra, where dharma is directly available through their preaching.
General Jain understanding of Viharman Tirthankars
- They are Tirthankars in active existence
- They are found in Mahāvideh Kshetra
- They are not in our current Bharat Kshetra
- They do not take birth, perform penance, and attain keval-jnan in the same way we narrate the 24 Tirthankars of our time, because they are already established in their own region and cycle
Spiritual significance
For Jains, Viharman Tirthankars are important because:- they show that moksha-marg is eternally available
- they are the source of spiritual guidance in Mahāvideh
- they remind us that right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct are always alive in the universe
If you want the “stories”
If by “stories” you mean:- their names, or
- their regions in Mahāvideh, or
- a traditional explanation of how they live and give deshna,
then I can provide that in a Jain scriptural style.
