Is seaweed Jain
In strict Jain dietary practice, seaweed is generally not considered suitable.
Reason:
- Seaweed is an aquatic organism, and Jainism avoids food that involves harm to living beings.
- Many Jains also avoid water-grown or marine foods because of the possibility of injury to subtle life forms.
So, for most Jain traditions, it is better to avoid seaweed.
