If every soul has the potential for liberation, why do infinite Nigod souls continue to exist?

    2 months ago 41

    ???? Answer

In Jain Dharma, every soul does have the inherent potential for liberation, but that potential does not automatically unfold in every soul at the same time.

Nigod souls continue to exist because:

    • Saṃsāra is beginningless: souls have been wandering in bondage since time without beginning.
    • Karma varies from soul to soul: some souls have extremely dense karmic bondage, making them stay in the Nigod state.
    • Liberation requires inner progress: right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct are needed to rise upward.
    • No soul is created or destroyed: souls keep existing in different states, from Nigod to liberated.

    ???? Explanation

A soul’s potential for moksha means its true nature is pure and capable of liberation. But in Nigod state, that pure nature is covered by such heavy karma and ignorance that the soul cannot presently act in a conscious spiritual way.

So the existence of infinite Nigod souls does not mean they lack the capacity for liberation. It means:

    • many souls are still in the deepest bondage,
    • some have begun spiritual evolution,
    • some are already moving toward liberation,
    • and some are liberated.

In Jain thought, the universe is filled with infinite souls in different conditions, not all at the same stage.

    ✨ Spiritual Understanding

This teaches an important Jain principle:

    • No soul is hopeless
    • No soul is condemned forever
    • Every soul has the same essential spiritual nature

But the rise from Nigod to liberation happens only through gradual karmic purification. Until that happens, Nigod souls continue to remain in bondage.

    ???? Takeaway

The existence of infinite Nigod souls shows the power of beginningless karma, not the absence of liberation potential. Every soul can become free — but only when its karmas are gradually removed through right spiritual effort.
