    Hw can I do Darshanvidhi

    one year ago 289

In Jainism, Darshanvidhi refers to the proper method or procedure for performing darshan (reverential viewing) of the Tirthankaras and other sacred images in a temple or at home. Performing darshan with correct vidhi (procedure) helps cultivate devotion, humility, and spiritual awareness. Here is a general guideline for Darshanvidhi according to Jain tradition:

    Preparation

    1. Purity: Take a bath and wear clean clothes before entering the temple or performing darshan at home.
    2. Mental Purity: Approach with a pure mind, leaving behind worldly thoughts, anger, or pride.

    Entering the Temple

    1. Respectful Entry: Enter the temple quietly and respectfully, without footwear.
    2. Namaskar: Upon entering, bow your head and fold your hands in reverence.

    Performing Darshan

    1. Circumambulation (Pradakshina): Walk clockwise around the main shrine or idol, usually three times, symbolizing respect.
    2. Ashtaprakari Puja (Optional): If performing puja, offer the eight substances (water, sandalwood, flowers, rice, coconut, lamp, incense, sweets) with devotion.
    3. Namaskar Mantra: Recite the Navkar Mantra (Namokar Mantra) or other Jain prayers, focusing your mind on the virtues of the Tirthankaras.
    4. Bow Down (Vandan): Bow down (with folded hands or by touching your head to the ground) in front of the idol, expressing humility and surrender.
    5. Contemplation: Meditate on the qualities of the Tirthankaras, and reflect on your spiritual goals.
    6. Avoid Touching: Do not touch the idols with unwashed hands or while wearing shoes or leather items.

    After Darshan

    1. Prayers and Reflection: Sit for a moment in silence, recite prayers, and make spiritual resolutions (pratikraman, if desired).
    2. Exit Quietly: Leave the temple quietly, maintaining the same reverence as when you entered.

    Key Points to Remember

    • Always maintain ahimsa (non-violence), even in thoughts, words, and actions during darshan.
    • Focus on inner purity and spiritual upliftment, not just the external rituals.
    • Darshan can be performed daily, as a way to deepen your devotion and spiritual practice.

If you wish to learn a specific Darshan Vidhi prayer, one commonly recited is:

Darshan Karu Jinvar Ka, Vandana Karu Charan Ki, Bhavna Bhari Bhakti Se, Bhavna Bhari Bhakti Se, Bhakti Karu Jinvar Ki.

You can consult Jain prayer books or your local Jain temple for more detailed procedures or region-specific vidhis.

Remember: The essence of darshanvidhi is devotion, humility, and focus on the Tirthankaras’ virtues.
