How to take samayik and what to say after the completion of samayik

    2 months ago 18

    Answer

Samayik is usually taken in a clean, शांत place for about 48 minutes. Sit calmly on a clean seat, keep the mind steady, and take the vow to remain in equanimity.

    How to take samayik

    • Wash hands and feet if possible, and wear clean clothes.
    • Sit on a clean asan in a शांत place.
    • Keep the body still and the mind शांत.
    • Take the samayik vow with sincerity, meaning:
    - I will remain in equanimity. - I will avoid anger, attachment, greed, and negativity. - I will focus on Jain spiritual practice.
    • During samayik, you may:
    - Recite Navkar Mantra - Do swadhyay - Meditate - Read Jain scriptures - Reflect on the soul and forgiveness

    What to say after completion

At the end of samayik, the most commonly said words are:
    • “Micchami Dukkadam”
    • or “Khamat-khamna”

These express forgiveness for any mistake done knowingly or unknowingly in thought, speech, or action.

    You may also say:

    • “I respectfully complete my samayik. If I have made any mistake, I ask forgiveness from all जीवों.”

The exact closing words can vary slightly by Jain tradition and family practice.

    Spiritual Understanding

Samayik is the practice of staying in inner balance. Its real purpose is not only sitting quietly, but becoming शांत, non-attached, and forgiving.

Ending with Micchami Dukkadam is very important because it closes the practice with humility and purification of the heart.

    Takeaway

Take samayik with a calm mind, stay focused on Jain spiritual thoughts, and after finishing, say Micchami Dukkadam to ask forgiveness respectfully.
