    14 devlok madhyabindu

    one year ago 276

In Jain cosmology, the universe (Loka) is described as having several realms, and "Devlok" refers to the heavenly abodes where celestial beings (devas) reside. According to Jain scriptures, there are fourteen main heavens (devlokas) situated in the upper regions of the universe.

The concept of "Madhyabindu" (मध्यबिंदु) refers to the central point or the middle region of the universe, which is called Madhya Loka (the middle world). This is the region where humans, animals, and plants exist, and where liberation (moksha) is possible. It is distinct from the heavenly abodes (devaloka) above and the hellish regions (naraka) below.

    Fourteen Devlokas:

The fourteen heavens are categorized as follows:
    1. Saudharma
    2. Ishana
    3. Sanatkumara
    4. Mahendra
    5. Brahma
    6. Lantava
    7. Kapishtha
    8. Shukra
    9. Maha-shukra
    10. Satara
    11. Sahasrara
    12. Anata
    13. Pranata
    14. Achyuta

Celestial beings reside in these levels based on their karma, and heavenly pleasures are enjoyed here, but ultimate liberation cannot be achieved from Devaloka.

    Madhyabindu in Jain Cosmology:

    • Madhyabindu refers to the central point in the universe, Madhya Loka, where the earth (Jambudvipa), humans, and other living beings reside.
    • It is the only region where the Tirthankaras are born, and where souls can attain moksha (liberation).

Summary: The "14 Devlok" are the fourteen heavens above the middle world, while "madhyabindu" refers to the central region of the universe (Madhya Loka), where humans live and moksha is possible, according to Jain cosmology.
