    1. If neither aupashamik samyaktva nor kshayopshamik samyaktva is the cause of attaining liberation, then why are they considered two distinct types?

    Answer

They are considered two distinct types because Jainism classifies samyaktva by how it arises in the soul, not only by whether it is the final cause of liberation.

    Explanation

    • Aupashamik samyaktva arises when deluding karma is only suppressed.
    • Kshayopashamik samyaktva arises when deluding karma is partly destroyed and partly suppressed.

So even if neither one is the ultimate, direct cause of moksha, they are still different because:

    • their cause is different,
    • their purity is different,
    • their stability is different,
    • their spiritual strength is different.

In simple terms, both are temporary states of right faith, but they are not the same kind of temporary state.

    Spiritual Understanding

Jain Dharma looks very carefully at the inner condition of the soul. Aupashamik and kshayopashamik samyaktva are both important because they show progress on the path, but they are still incomplete.
    • Aupashamik is like a calm state caused by suppression.
    • Kshayopashamik is a deeper state because there is some real destruction of karma.

Neither is final liberation, but both are meaningful stages on the soul’s journey.

    Takeaway

They are distinct because Jain philosophy classifies them by their inner karmic process, not only by their final result. Both are temporary forms of right faith, but they differ in their origin and strength.
