What about devas like Shiva and all are they also considered mithyatva deva

    2 months ago 7

    Answer

In Jain Dharma, Shiva and similar deities are not considered Jain Devs in the ultimate spiritual sense. If someone believes them to be the supreme creator, destroyer, or liberator, that belief falls under mithyātva — wrong faith or deluded belief.

    Explanation

    In Jainism:
    • A deva usually means a celestial being.
    • A being like Shiva belongs to another religious tradition, so Jainism does not accept him as a Tīrthankar, Arihant, or Siddha.
    • Jainism teaches that liberation comes through right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct, not through the grace of a creator god.

So, if a person worships Shiva with the belief that:

    • he is the ultimate creator,
    • he can remove karma by divine power,
    • or he is the final path to moksha,

then from the Jain viewpoint that is mithyātva.

But if someone simply respects Shiva as a religious figure of another tradition, without abandoning Jain right view, that is a different matter.

    Spiritual Understanding

Jain Dharma keeps the focus on:
    • Arihants and Siddhas as the true highest spiritual ideals,
    • self-effort in destroying karma,
    • and avoiding attachment to false notions of an all-powerful external savior.

So the key point is not only the name of the deity, but the belief attached to it.

    Takeaway

Yes, in Jain understanding, worshiping Shiva or similar deities as supreme beings can be part of mithyātva. Jainism honors right faith in Arihant, Siddha, and the path of self-purification.
