What is our main duty as jain
Answer
Our main duty as Jains is to live with non-violence, self-discipline, and a sincere effort toward liberation of the soul.Explanation
In Jain Dharma, the highest goal is moksha — freedom of the soul from karma and worldly bondage. To move toward that goal, a Jain should mainly practice:- Ahimsa — non-violence in thought, word, and action
- Satya — truthfulness
- Asteya — not taking what is not given
- Brahmacharya — control of desires
- Aparigraha — non-attachment and simplicity
Among these, ahimsa is the most central and widely emphasized principle.
Spiritual Understanding
A Jain’s life is meant to reduce harm, reduce attachment, and purify the soul. This means:- treating all living beings with compassion
- avoiding cruelty and unnecessary harm
- living with humility and awareness
- practicing right faith, right knowledge, and right conduct
So, the main duty is not just religious ritual, but inner purification and ethical living.
