Bhagwan Mahavir’s soul did not become a Tirthankar in one lifetime. Through many births, it gradually developed:- Compassion
- Detachment
- Right faith
- Right knowledge
- Austerity and self-discipline
Among his earlier births, one of the most well-known is as Marichi, the grandson of Bhagwan Rishabhdev.
Jain tradition teaches that these past lives were part of his long spiritual journey toward complete purity and liberation.
