The full and revered name of the Palitana tirth is Shri Shatrunjaya Tirth. It is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites (tirthas) in Jainism, especially for the Shwetambar sect. The temple complex is situated on the Shatrunjaya hill near the town of Palitana in Gujarat, India. Jains believe that visiting and performing darshan at Shatrunjaya Tirth leads to great spiritual merit (punya) and is considered a must-visit pilgrimage in a devout Jain’s lifetime.
