    examples of arihant and kevalis

    a month ago 7

    Answer

In Jain Dharma, every Tirthankar who has attained Keval Jnana is both an Arihant and a Kevali.

    Examples of Arihants

    Some well-known examples are:
    • Lord Rishabhdev
    • Lord Parshvanath
    • Lord Mahavir Swami

These are called Arihants because they have destroyed the ghatiya karmas and attained perfect knowledge while still living in the body.

    Examples of Kevalis

A Kevali is any soul that has attained Keval Jnana. Examples include:
    • Lord Mahavir Swami
    • Gautam Swami
    • Sudharma Swami
    • Jambuswami

    Explanation

    • Arihant means one who has conquered inner enemies like anger, ego, deceit, and greed.
    • Kevali means one who has attained complete omniscience.

    So:

    • All Arihants are Kevalis
    • But all Kevalis are not necessarily Arihants in the Tirthankar sense

For example, Tirthankaras are Arihants, while great monks like Gautam Swami are Kevalis.

    Spiritual Understanding

Arihants and Kevalis are supreme examples in Jain Dharma because they show the state of:
    • complete purity
    • perfect knowledge
    • total victory over karma

They inspire us to move toward self-discipline, non-violence, and liberation.

    Takeaway

If you want, you can remember it simply like this:
    • Arihant = liberated from inner enemies, still in the body
    • Kevali = fully omniscient
    • Tirthankaras are the best-known examples of both
