why and how samsar is there

    a month ago 1

    Answer

In Jain Dharma, samsār exists because the soul becomes bound by karma. It is a beginningless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth that continues as long as karmic bondage remains.

    Explanation

    According to Jain teachings:
    • The soul is pure by nature.
    • But due to mithyātva (wrong belief), kaṣāya (anger, pride, deceit, greed), and activities of body, speech, and mind, karma gets attached to the soul.
    • This karma creates different life forms, experiences, joys, sorrows, and repeated births and deaths.
    • Because of this bondage, the soul wanders in samsār.

    So, how samsār is there:

    • Karma binds the soul.
    • Bound karma ripens over time.
    • New karma keeps getting added.
    • This keeps the cycle going.

    And why samsār is there:

    • Because the soul has been covered by ignorance and passions.
    • As long as attachment and aversion remain, bondage continues.
    • Therefore, samsār continues until right knowledge, right faith, right conduct, and austerity destroy karma.

    Spiritual Understanding

In Jainism, samsār is not created by God. It is a natural result of karma and the soul’s own actions. This is important because it means:
    • We are responsible for our liberation.
    • Freedom comes through self-purification.
    • By reducing passions and stopping karma, the soul can end samsār.

    Takeaway

Samsār exists because of karma-bound bondage of the soul. It continues through ignorance and passions, and it ends through purification, restraint, and liberation.
