Paryushan parv start
Paryushan Parv is one of the most important and sacred festivals in Jainism. The start date of Paryushan varies each year because it is based on the lunar calendar.
For Śvetāmbara Jains, Paryushan begins on the 12th day of the waning (dark) half of the month of Shravana (called Shravan Vad 12) and lasts for 8 days. For Digambara Jains, a similar festival called Das Lakshan Parva begins a day later and lasts for 10 days, starting from Bhadrapada Shukla Panchami (the 5th day of the bright half of Bhadrapada month).
The exact Gregorian calendar dates change each year, so it is important to refer to the Jain Panchang (calendar) for the specific dates.
Paryushan is a time for self-purification, reflection, fasting, and seeking forgiveness (Kshamapana) from all living beings.
